Bacillus firmus causes damage to the peripheral egg pellicle of gall forming nematodes thus preventing the hatching of nematode eggs.
Many species of the genus Bacillus have also been tested for their efficacy as agents for nematode control, and Bacillus firmus is available in commercial formulations, application of which results in a decrease in plant parasitic nematode populations and root infestation.
